Over the last few months we as a club have been approached by managers, members of the public asking about kids coming and joining Monifieth Athletic teams, in the age brackets where our teams have already formed.
EITHER. Just becoming interested in football or tried it before left and now want to try again. Or just wanting to play football with their pals.
As a result of this we have decided to create an additional Soccer School where kids born 2008/2007/2006 can come along to join the soccer school with intention of seeing if further teams can be developed and created.
We are presently in conversation with Carnoustie Panmure Youth Football to see if necessary we can both supply to potentially form new team.
To form a team it will be parent participation which will take it forward but coaches will assist initially and give any advice needed.
Coaches are all volunteers and run other teams but willing to help get this up and running.
Monifieth Athletic FC Soccer School
Starting Saturday 18th March 2017
If you are interested then please get in touch via our Facebook page
MAFCs popular soccer school starts back this Saturday 4 February 9.30 – 10.30 at Riverview. This is open to boys and girls in P1 to P3 years. The school is run by SFA qualified coaches and concentrates on early touches with a football and learning small sided games.
This year MAFC will take part in football festivals with other Angus clubs which will be great for the soccer school kids to show off their skills in a non competitive festival.
Monifieth Athletic FC are really proud to have achieved another SFA quality Mark within the space of one year, to become a Development Club. Once again this is down to the hard work of all coaches and volunteers to ensure we deliver quality football for every player.
The hard work continues towards Community Club status by setting up football for girls and walking football for more senior members of the community.
The MAFC committee want to thank everyone for their continued dedication towards the club. Everything from coaching to running the tea stalls to cheering on the players makes our club a fantastic environment for football development and games.
In early April this year, Monifieth Athletic 2004’s travelled to Spain to take part in the Football Cup Barcelona tournament, an internationally recognised tournament for various age groups, with almost 100 teams taking part. The teams come from all over the world including Indonesia and USA as well as Europe.
The games are played over two days and our boys opened their tournament with a closely contested match against the home club, FCB Escola, eventually losing 3-1. A draw with Lurgan Town FC Vapours led the team to a crunch game against Soccer Elite FA from England with Monifieth needing a win to progress to the quarter finals. The determination of the boys came through and they thoroughly deserved their 3-2 victory against a team of players picked from a FA Academy. There are no individuals singled out as this was a great team performance. Every player (and coach ) contributed to the result and were worthy of the applause at the end. Read More
We’re raising funds!
Monifieth Athletic FC want to improve facilities at our club by providing Multi Use Games Arena (MUGA) which will be used by the community.
Help us reach our £20,000 target through our Monifieth Athletic FC Facility Improvement Fund Crowdfunder page.
Monifieth Athletic FC have been awarded the Quality Mark – Standard status in year end 2015. For those of you who may not be familiar with this, the Quality Mark is the Scottish FA club accreditation programme that is designed to support clubs to develop and celebrate good practice.
In 2015 with the support and effort of everyone involved with the Club, we have put in place all the necessary processes and procedures to achieve this award, so many thanks to everyone for their time, effort and skills they have given to the teams and the Club.
Everyone involved with the Club, past and present, has contributed to the getting the Club this far, providing a great, safe, fun and learning environment for the children and youths of Monifieth and the surrounding area.
We should be proud of what we, and others before us, have achieved so far.
In 2016 the committee hope to build on this work to improve facilities and to take the Club forward which will safeguard it’s future for many years to come.
We have decided to delay the start of the soccer school due to poor weather and to give the pitch time to recover from the recent rain. It’s a shame we do not have an all weather pitch in Monifieth!
It also allows our coaches to get their own teams up and running for the start of the season in March, before they can assist with the soccer school.
The plan is now to start on 20th February 2016 and run through spring summer and autumn.
Open to all primary 1-3. £2 a session
Saturday mornings 0930 – 1030.
The Primary 3s will also get the occasional week at DISC where they play 5×10 min games at 5 aside football. More details to follow on this as we go forward.
This will most likely need some parental help and involvement.
So if there are parents looking to help can they please get in touch as we will need to do PVG checks and look at getting some coaching courses arranged if necessary.
Later in the year we will also be looking to get the next group started. Most likely around summer time.
